Tudor Place Revealed: A Tour of the Exposed Exterior
May 25-26, 2007 |
Join Site Manager Jana Shafagoj for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view the building fabric of this unique late 18th and early 19th century Federal style building during and following the Portland cement stucco removal. A tour of the exterior and interior of the house will focus on the interpretation of structural clues regarding the construction history and use of the mansion from the late 18th century through the 20th century. Visitors will have the opportunity to examine and compare exposed materials such as nails, wood framing and bricks as well as visible structural alterations such as straight joints, blocked doorways, altered floorboards, etc. A discussion of how these materials and alterations provide architectural historians with information regarding the evolution and use of the house will follow the tour.
Tours available on May 25, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. and May 26, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Fee: $15 |
