Two award winning mason’s (Kenny McCaffrey and Malcolm Hutcheon) from Historic Scotland will be in NYC presenting a two-day training workshop for the students of Abyssinian Development Corp’s (ADC) YouthBuild masonry preservation program.
Historic Scotland is the executive agency of the Scottish Government charged with safeguarding the nation’s historic environment and promoting its understanding and enjoyment on behalf of Scottish Ministers. http://www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/index.htm
Kenny and Malcolm will be demonstrating the stone carving skills and advanced masonry conservation practices they perform on Scottish castles, monuments, landmarks and residences.
Students will be practicing these stone carving and preservation techniques at two different sites. Guests are welcome to visit and experience the training-in-process.
Wednesday, May,12th The Workshop will take place at: The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, north parking lot on West 113th Street, NYC.
Thursday, May, 13th The Workshop will take place at: The West 127th Street park/ play lot, east of Lenox Avenue, NYC.
