Built By Blacks Tour
June 19, 2010 |
The Valentine Richmond History Center, in partnership with the Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods, will offer a bus tour exploring the history of our city, built in large part by African-Americans-- from the First Battalion Armory and Maggie Walker's Italianate townhouse in Jackson Ward to Shockoe Bottom's slave auction warehouses. Selden Richardson (author of Built by Blacks: African-American Architecture and Neighborhoods in Richmond Virginia), will lead the tour.
Tickets are $23 ($20 for History Center members and children 6-18 years old; children under 6 are free). Cost includes parking in the History Center lot and admission to the museum on the date of the tour.
