McFaddin-Ward House's Teaching the Past to Ensure a Future
November 11-13, 2010 |
The McFaddin-Ward House, a American Association of Museums (AAM)-accredited historic house museum, is holding its tenth national historic homes conference November 11-13, 2010 in Beaumont, Texas.
“Teaching the Past to Ensure A Future” will address current challenges for historic house museums, especially how to remain relevant to their audiences when today’s museum visitors differ so greatly from those of previous generations, or to the house’s original occupants. Museum Education Monitor editor Christine Castle is the keynote speaker. The ten conference speakers are respected museum professionals and education theorists from around the country who can give participants ideas to tackle pressing museum issues, given the changing times. Conference topics range from new theories and learning systems to practical applications and revisited methods for guiding adaptive museum programming, given today’s museum-going public differs greatly from previous generations, and most likely from the house’s original occupants.
