Restoring or rehabilitating historic properties to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation while complying with the Florida Building Code and other safety requirements can be challenging. This workshop will focus on the Chapters of the Florida Building Code pertaining to historic properties. Participants will learn how to comply with both the Florida Building Code and State Historic Grant and Compliance Review requirements. Also, hurricane protection, fire and life safety standards, and ADA compliance requirements historic properties will be addressed. Case Studies of the historic Hays-Hood House and The Grove in Tallahassee will be showcased.
