Preservation Thursday: How Wild, Wild Weather has Shaped Black Hills History
February 10, 2011 |
Susan Sanders, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, serves as a liaison to local emergency response agencies and media and conducts training programs for storm spotters and safety presentations for the general public. The Black Hills has had a number of weather-related disasters since its settlement in the mid-1800s. This presentation describes weather patterns of the northern Plains that produce extreme conditions in and around the Black Hills. The presentation will also demonstrate how to use climate resources to add dimension to personal historical stories. The public forum will be held at Deadwood City Hall, 12:00 p.m. Admission by donation.
