Volunteering:
It takes hundreds of volunteers to make the GPA's annual Historic Elgin House Tour happen. If you would like to help, please let us know!
Most volunteers serve as docents. Docents are the people you see stationed about the houses, often to deliver a short, scripted presentation to the tour guests as they enter the docent's area. Volunteers who serve as docents typically work one half-day shift and in return receive complementary admission to the other houses on the tour, for both days. Some docents do work multiple shifts if they're really enthusiastic. Some even recruit friends to be docents too!
Working as a docent is a great way to meet some of your neighbors and to have fun too. If you wish to volunteer to serve as a docent, send e-mail with your name and phone number to sgochnour@northwestgastro.com.
If you have any other questions about this event or would be interested in volunteering to work on the tour or having your home featured on an upcoming house tour, please contact us at dmiller155@aol.com.
