Arts and Crafts expert and author Paul Duchscherer will be making a special visit to Portland in May for two presentations on behalf of the Irvington Home Tour and the Architectural Heritage Center. “Beyond the Bungalow” will cover houses built in the Arts and Crafts or Craftsman styles in the early twentieth century but were larger than the conventional “bungalow.”  “Along Bungalow Lines” will discuss how bungalow traditions were adapted to include other aesthetic traditions, such as the Colonial Revival, Prairie, and Tudor Revival styles. Many Portland homes are featured in Duchscherer’s books and will be reflected in his presentations. You will have an opportunity to purchase books and have them signed by the author at each presentation. For more information on the Irvington Home Tour, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, visit www.irvingtonhometour.com.
