History in the Re-making: Old Town Renaissance
June 16, 2007 |
Saturday, June 16th Tour 1: 9:00 a.m. Tour 2: 10:30 a.m. Members: $13 General Public: $18 Meet at the corner of NW First & Couch
Three historic buildings in Portland’s Old Town are being reborn, and the Architectural Heritage Center offers you a unique opportunity to see them from the inside out before they open to the public. The University of Oregon and Venerable Properties are rehabilitating the Bickel Block (1883), Skidmore Block (1888) and White Stag Block (1907). Portland architect Bill Hawkins and Jessica Engeman of Venerable Properties will talk about the buildings’ history and the project and coordinate tours designed to show the original “bones” as well as changes made as part of the adaptive reuse process. Because of construction site conditions, closed-toe shoes and stair climbing ability are required. |
