Civil War Candlelight Tour
May 13-14, 2011 |
Take a candle lantern and spend the evening Friday and Saturday, May 13-14, walking through one of the most difficult time periods in America’s history. Reservations are required. Ticket pricing: $10 members; $12 non-members.
Genesee Country Village & Museums’ Civil War Candlelight Tour offers a view of the Civil War through the eyes of ordinary soldiers risking everything for causes they may—or may not—have believed in.
This informal, self-guided program invites visitors to engage Civil War-era re-enactors in conversations about issues confronting the military on the battlefield and families on the home front.
Wander through a Confederate campsite. Witness Federal troops in a platoon drill. Talk with refugees as they flee north. Take a lesson in handling small arms. Learn about ladies’ fashion in the 1860s.
A dozen Civil War-era settings will be presented in select historical buildings as visitors stroll along the village streets by candlelight after hours.
Tour is not recommended for children under 10.
