Adaptive Reuse: Preservation Through Innovation Symposium

(Lexington, KY) – The University of Kentucky College of Design, Department of Historic Preservation, and The Historic Preservation Graduate Organization will host its fifth historic preservation symposium Mar. 31 - April 1, 2011.
Our mission is to bring together professionals with historic preservation expertise in real estate development, economics, and urban planning to share their wisdom about the importance of adaptive reuse, helping to further the mission of the College of Design at the University of Kentucky and historic preservation efforts within Lexington and the larger Kentucky region. To help facilitate our mission, we will bring together national speakers and local respondents in a conversation about the "best practices" within these three fields, adaping larger concepts to a local context.

Speakers: Roberta Brandes Gratz, Award-winning journalist and urban critic, lecturer and author of The Living City and Cities Back From the Edge.
Donovan Rypkema, Economist, historic preservationist, author, and Principal of PlaceEconomics.
Lectures: Thursday, March 31 - 5:15PM Friday, April 1 - 10AM* and 2PM* *with local response panel to follow
