Art & Architecture Tour

May 6, 2011

Join us for the fifth annual Art & Architecture Tour, a guided tour of historic sites through The Old City and surrounding area, on Friday, May 6. The artworks featured on the tour are photographs submitted to Knox Heritage’s Photography Contest, with twelve winning images creating the tour route. The Art & Architecture Tour is sponsored by Design Innovations Architects, Russell Printing, Metropulse, and Attack Monkey Productions.

Knox Heritage events almost always include an opportunity for social gathering and good food and drink. In keeping with that tradition, the Art & Architecture Tour commences at 6:000 p.m. at the offices of Attack Monkey Productions, 119 S. Gay Street, for wine and hors d’oeuvres for ticketholders. At 7:00 p.m., the tour group departs on the route, based on the locations of the winning photographs. Serving as special tour guides for the event are Jack Neely, local historian, journalist, and author; and David Dewhirst of Dewhirst Properties.

Beginning June 3 on First Friday, the winning photographs will be exhibited at the Emporium in downtown Knoxville, 110 S. Gay Street. The photos will be on display until June 26.

Tickets are $40.00 for Knox Heritage members and $50.00 for non-members and include the reception at Attack Monkey Productions and the tour. Due to the compact layout of The Old City, this year’s tour is a walking tour only. Space is limited; to purchase tickets, visit www.knoxheritage.org/specialevents or call 523-8008.

Submissions from photographers from across the sixteen-county region resulted in over 170 photographs from over 30 photographers for the seven-member jury panel to review.
