YOUNTVILLE, CA – Step back in time for an enchanting tour through Roman ruins, whimsical and classic Greek antiquities, and visually-delightful trompe d’oeil artwork at Ca’Toga, the villa of famed Calistoga Artist Carlo Marchiori, Sunday, May 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person. Call Napa Valley Museum at (707) 944-0500 for reservations.
Guests will meet at Napa Valley Museum and take a short ride to Calistoga, where Marchiori will guide them through the villa and grounds. Upon their return to Napa Valley Museum, visitors will be able to view the current exhibition Wanderlust: Journeys With Napa Valley Photographers on display through June 16.
Ca’Toga transports visitors to a European-style setting in Napa Valley. Each room of the villa is decorated in a theme of visual delight, from the Palladian-inspired entrance to the Bacchus, Venus and cupids romping across the walls in the interpretation of an ancient dream. Icarus, Minotaur, Prometheus, Oedipus and the Sphinx are at home in the Greek Room adjacent to the Southwest and cow-themed bedrooms. On the grounds, water pours from thermal spouts depicting Venus and Hercules, into the Roman pools and tub. An archway inspired by the Pulcinella character welcomes visitors entering the grounds, near a bust of the playful Pan.
The Napa Valley Museum is located at 55 Presidents Circle in Yountville. Take the California Blvd. Veterans Home exit off Highway 29 and follow the tree-lined street to Presidents Circle. Turn right and the museum is directly on the right.
