11th Annual Mountain-Pecos Regional Historical Commission Conference

Guest speakers and their subjects include: *Amy Hammons from the Texas Historical Commission will discuss the Annual CHC Report, the ins and outs of what makes a good report better; Joe and Lanna Duncan, this year’s winners of Preservation Texas’ Clara Driscoll Award, will share their passion and experiences restoring several landmark hotels including two Trost gems, the Paisano and the El Capitan; Russell Smith, author of “The Gun that Wasn’t There”, will bring the subject of his book to life; Bill Smith, Terrell County Curator, will present the local history of the railroad, their structures and their influence on the region; Bill Hawn will share his work researching and implementing the THC marker commemorating “The Last Train Robbery” at Baxter’s Curve.
A continental breakfast and luncheon buffet will be complimentary to all attending guests. Booths will be located around the dining area on various regional historical subjects including flint napping, barbed wire, goat ranching, wildlife habitat, geodaesia, and more. Registration will begin at 8:30 am at the Terrell Co Community Center located on the northwest corner of the courthouse parking lot.
