SWAT team Preservation for Stablizing Historic Buildings
October 3-7, 2011 |
Even in difficult economic times old and/or historic buildings must still be cared for. This workshop will help participants develop creative solutions for accomplishing this goal within limited budgets. This workshop will cover assessing, stabilizing and moth-balling historic buildings. A team of instructors will teach this workshop by splitting the class into groups that will each assess a building's condition; develop stabilizing treatments; set priorities and implement the highest priority treatments. Workshop participants will use John Leeke's booklet, “Managing Maintenance for Historic Buildings,” that provides guidance and a paperwork system of blank forms for documenting conditions, setting priorities, planning and implementing work and organizing it all for use in a formal maintenance program for each building.
