Before the Giants, there were the Seals and before them, the Stars. San Francisco's first Pacific Coast League (PCL) game was held on March 26, 1903, at Recreation Park at 8th and Harrison Streets, as the San Francisco Stars took on the Portlands. The Stars were later renamed the San Francisco Seals. Learn about the PCL and the long rivalry between the Seals and the Oakland Oaks as Mark Macrae, Director of the Pacific Coast League Historical Society brings together a panel of former PCL players and media to wax nostalgic about a more innocent time in Bay Area baseball.
The evening will conclude with a presentation by a San Francisco Giants representative who will discuss the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game FanFest in San Francisco in July.
Please join us at 7 PM for a reception featuring historic memorabilia from the Pacific Coast League.
