Tools to Save a Historic Building: The Tillamook Bay Life-Saving Station
August 24, 2011 |
Join the HPLO at this community workshop for a discussion of ideas and tools available to honor, preserve, and revitalize the Tillamook Bay Life-Saving Station, one of Oregon's Most Endangered Places. Participants will learn about the basic principles of historic preservation and its practical applications to local resources, lean about funding opportunities for historic places, and explore preservation strategies for the Life-Saving Station and other local historic properties. Additionally, author and preservation consultant Dave Pinyerd will give a short presentation on the history of the United States Life-Saving Service and why the station at Tillamook Bay is so significant to Oregon. The event will conclude with a discussion of next steps for the community, state, and region to see that the station be preserved and reused. The event is open to the public. $5 suggested donation.
