65th Annual Spring Festival of Houses and Gardens

March 22 - April 21, 2012

The Foundation's annual fundraiser, the premier event of its kind in the country, offers visitors the rare opportunity to venture inside nearly 150 of Charleston’s grandest private houses and gardens in the city's renowned historic district during peak blooming season.

The 65th annual spring Festival of Houses and Gardens offers attendees an entire month of tours and programs, to include:
  • Daily House and Garden Tours: Each self-guided tour will feature up to 10 historic properties in Charleston’s earliest neighborhoods. Beautiful architecture and lush blooming gardens are woven throughout the fabric of Charleston. Charleston is consistently named among the 10 most courteous and friendly cities in America, and was recently named number two on Travel + Leisure Magazine’s 2011 World’s Best Awards list of top cities in the United States.
  • Musical Concerts: From bluegrass to instrumental music, each concert is a unique opportunity for guests to experience period music in an intimate historic setting with inspiring and informative musical interpretations.
  • Luncheon Lectures: This series of entertaining and educational presentations features different speakers daily along with a light lunch. Participants will also enjoy a brief tour or hands-on experience that relates to the day’s topic.
  • Wine Tastings: Guests will discover why Charleston is known for its fine culinary arts while savoring wines with paired hors d’oeuvres.

Learn more about the tours and special events of the spring Festival of Houses and Gardens at www.historiccharleston.org/Festival. Tickets will go on sale November 1, 2011.

With the help of more than 700 volunteers, the Festival is organized by Historic Charleston Foundation with proceeds supporting its mission to preserve and protect the historical, architectural and material culture that make up Charleston's rich and irreplaceable heritage.
