This event is part of the Partners in Preservation Open House Weekend. There will be a "yarn bombing" of a built-to-scale model of the Hennepin Center
onion dome, which will involve covering the model onion dome with dozens of
knitted scarves that will be given to those in need. We will then hoist the
onion up onto the building into the space of the future permanent onion dome.
We'll do this ceremoniously, as a way to celebrate the dome as a symbol for the
building's community arts activity. There will also be open studio workshops and presentations by arts and culture tenant organizations in the Hennepin Center for the Arts will be on display. Interactive arts activities in the main lobby that will
highlight the onion dome project, the history of the Hennepin Center building
and the importance of bringing back the onion dome to serve as a prominent
