Thomas Day Lecture

Jo Leimenstoll, UNC-Greensboro Professor, will discuss the life and work of Thomas Day (1801-1861), a renowned master craftsman from Milton, NC. He became the most successful cabinet maker in North Carolina, during a time when most blacks were enslaved and freed blacks were restricted in their activities. The presentation will come from Leimenstoll's recently published book Thomas Day: Master Craftsman and Free Man of Color. A book signing and reception will follow at The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture.
