North Hills Holiday Tour of Homes 2011

December 10, 2011

Join us for holiday fun at ten lovely homes in this beautiful historic neighborhood just north of downtown Knoxville. You will not be disappointed! The tour is from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 10th, 2011. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

Refreshments are provided at each home!

The North Hills Holiday Tour of Historic Homes is a neighborhood tradition, with each house decorated in various styles of festive decor. This year's tour offers a rare glimpse inside the history and architecture of the North Hills neighborhood, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 130 homes within the historic district contribute to the ambiance of this early automobile-oriented Knoxville subdivision with its gracious tree-lined boulevards. Open on the tour are ten houses built between 1928 and 1940, representing various architectural styles ranging from Craftsman to English Cottage to Tudor to Tuscan Revival.

As a special treat this year, one of the homes will feature an exotic collection of over 30 live tropical frogs. The brightly colored miniature frogs should prove to be fascinating to children and adults alike! Another home features a room dedicated to Marilyn Monroe, with various collectibles on display.

Proceeds from the tour support the work of the North Hills Garden Club, whose members are working on a five-year commitment to replant the boulevards throughout the neighborhood. In the last two years, the Garden Club has planted over 60 disease resistant Dogwoods throughout the neighborhood. The club has also supported Belle Morris and Whittle Springs Schools, the Knoxville Botanical Garden, and Interfaith Health Clinic.

Advance tickets are available through PayPal or from club members. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the tour at three of the homes. Children under 12 years of age will be admitted free of charge.
