Archaeology at the Charnley-Persky House: Changing Tastes on Chicago's Gold Coast, 1890-1930
February 23, 2012 |
Please join us on Thursday, February 23 at 6:00 p.m. for a presentation on the urban archeological dig that took place during Summer 2010 on the Charnley-Persky House property. Led by Rebecca Graff, the dig was a five-week class for anthropology students at DePaul University. In this lecture, Graff will give an overview of the archaeological project and discuss how the findings speak to the history of the Gold Coast, particularly to the consumer choices choices of the time. Many of the artifacts will be on display for guests to view.
Seating is limited. Click here to register now!
Time: 6pm
The Society of Architectural Historians is pleased to announce that this year marks the 120th Anniversary of the construction of the Charnley-Persky House. This lecture is the first in a series of lectures to take place at the Charnley-Persky House to celebrate the anniversary. The house was designed by Louis Sullivan in collaboration with Frank Lloyd Wright, who was his draftsman at the time. As these two architects are major figures in American architecture, SAH is pleased to call the Charnley-Persky House its home and welcomes guests to join us in celebrating this Anniversary. We look forward to concluding the year by dedicating our Benefit Gala in November 2012 to the continued restoration of the Charnley-Persky House.
