Annual Plaque and Elm Award Ceremony
May 10, 2012 |
The New Bedford Preservation Society will hold its Annual Plaque and Elm Award Ceremony on AHA! night, Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Downtown New Bedford Library, Third Floor Meeting Room. Society President Mark P. Fuller will present three historic markers and provide an illustrated talk featuring the fifteen recipients of this year’s Elm Award. The society presents this award to recognize individuals or organizations that have done an outstanding job in either the restoration or preservation of their historic property. The public is cordially invited to attend this program and the reception which follows. As May is National Preservation Month, this ceremony is a fitting tribute to those who have accomplished much in preserving the heritage of the city for the future.
In addition to the Historic Marker Program, other Society projects include New Bedford Re-Leaf, the production of Historic District Walking tour brochures, Historical Cemetery Tours, Walking Tours, Annual House Tours, Trolley Tours, and lectures throughout the year on historic preservation.
