Sacramento Old City Association Presents: An Evening with the Governors
A Fundraiser for the California Historic Governor’s Mansion
In the wake of recent budget cuts, many California state parks are facing
closure or drastically limited budgets. Sacramento’s historic Governor’s Mansion, originally constructed for Albert Gallatin and home to thirteen California governors, is a State Historic Park that was planned for closure. It will remain open, operated by the California Historic Governor’s Mansion Foundation, but they need your help! Join us on Saturday, July 28 for an evening of dining and entertainment, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the Foundation’s plans for continued operation and interpretation of the Mansion and its legacy, restoration underway on the Mansion’s seldom-seen third floor (3rd floor is not ADA accessible) and presentations by the professionals restoring the Mansion.
This event also marks the 40th anniversary of the Sacramento Old City Association, Sacramento’s premier historic preservation organization. Come celebrate SOCA’s legacy while enjoying the beauty of one of our city’s best-known landmarks, and help keep this architectural treasure open to the public.
Cost is $80, which includes food by Plates Catering, drinks, live music by the Doug Pauly Trio, and tours of the mansion, plus a special presentation by historc lighting expert Paul Ivazes: “How Gas Lighting Changed America”
