Camp Chesterfield: The Spiritualism Experience
August 25, 2012 |
Since 1891 healers, clairvoyants, mediums, mystics, and those curious about the afterlife have traveled to Camp Chesterfield, a National Register-listed 40-acre campus in Madison County.
Indiana Landmarks Camp Chesterfield Experience offers a provocative look at the place and the subject, no matter what your belief system. Our full-day program includes lectures on the history and practice of Spiritualism from its nineteenth-century roots in the Shaker and Quaker traditions through today, with lectures, lunch and a guided tour of the Camp led by resident mediums.
The program also includes a conversation on the camp’s preservation issues including a look at the vacant Sunflower Hotel, the 800-seat Cathedral of the Woods and residential cottages.
Cost: $45 per person ($40 per member of Indiana Landmarks), includes lectures, lunch, and tour.
