Historic New England, an early leader in collecting Modern architecture, offers an exclusive opportunity to its members to participate in a special multi-day program that takes an in-depth look at New England Modernist architecture and interiors, September 27-30, 2007.
The program includes tours of the newest Modernist house open to the public - Philip Johnson's Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut - and the Gropius House in Lincoln, Massachusetts, one of the first Modernist houses in New England to open as a museum. There are also lectures on Modernism, access to private Modernist houses in both states, walking tours, special receptions with fellow guests and special speakers, and an opportunity to share information with other Modernist fans.
The single occupancy rate is $1,650; double occupancy rate is $1,600 per person. The fee includes lectures, admissions, special tours, transportation to and from sites, daily breakfast, lunch, one dinner, as well as receptions and service charges, and one-night accommodation in Greenwich, Connecticut. Accommodations in Boston are on your own. Contact Ken Turino at kturino@HistoricNewEngland.org or 617-227-3957, ext. 246, to register or for more information.
Due to the extraordinary interest in this trip, registrations will be accepted in the order they are received. Registrations will be taken by telephone and registrants will be notified of their position (space confirmed, or waiting list status) immediately. At that time, a $200 non-refundable deposit will be charged to credit cards to confirm participation. Final payments will be due by September 4, 2007.
