The Beauport Ball (Historic New England)
July 21, 2007 |
Historic New England’s Beauport, Sleeper-McCann House, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, was the creation of interior designer Henry Davis Sleeper. In the early twentieth century, Sleeper and his talented artistic friends, such as Harvard professor A. Piatt Andrew, portrait painter Cecilia Beaux, and Isabella Stewart Gardner, entertained each other frequently, often at fancy-dress events. The house and its fabled collections were later preserved through the generosity of Helena Woolworth McCann.
Historic New England invites you to recreate the playful spirit of entertainments past at a ball to celebrate Beauport’s one hundredth anniversary. For information, call (617) 227-3956 or (978) 283-0800. |
