Battle Detective Makes War of 1812 Discovery in Washington, D.C.

A War of 1812 “Battle Detective” has made a tremendous discovery about the history of Washington, D.C. Acqunetta Anderson, lead historian, of the Benjamin Harrison Society, Inc. and also the Chair of the Washington, D.C. War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission with the support of Smithsonian Institution Anthropology Department archaeologists, students, volunteers, natural resource specialist, and others discovered that the “Battle of Bladensburg” occurred both in Bladensburg, Maryland and in northeast Washington, D.C. on August 24, 1814. |
