Preserve Our Dry Stone Walls, an introductory hands-on workshop

Owners of historic dry stone walls, masons interested in expanding their résumé, and enthusiasts of regional limestone history and preservation will receive hands-on instruction in the restoration and re-building of dry stone walls in an upcoming workshop. Led by experts from the Dry Stone Conservancy whose mission is to preserve historic drystone structures, advance the drystone masonry craft, and create a center for training and expertise nationwide, participants will learn the history of dry stone walls and the fundamental structural techniques of durable wall construction while restoring a wall through hands-on training. Advanced training and certification are available through the Dry Stone Conservancy.
Sponsored by Indiana Landmarks, the Monroe County Historic Preservation Board of Review, and the City of Bloomington Historic Preservation Commission, and other sponsors to be announced. Cost: $300 per person. Registration is limited. Deadline for registration is May 1, 2013.
