Annual Meeting Theme: Is The Coast Clear?
When a storm’s brewing — is your museum prepared to weather it? Like ships on the high seas, Texas museums consistently find themselves facing challenges and uncertainties. How do we ensure that our bearings are on course, our missions in ship-shape, and mooring secure?
The 2008 TAM Annual Meeting will explore ways that museums can prepare for a future with an unpredictable forecast. Are you ready to manage a natural disaster? Can you recover from personnel crises? Is your funding secure? Will you lead in embracing rapid change and new technologies? Are you fully prepared for the voyage ahead? Is the coast clear?
Batten down the hatches at home and chart a course to Galveston, where you can check out the coast and chill out with colleagues from across the state. This unique Texas island features 32 miles of beaches, extraordinary 19th century architecture, and a unique seaport history. To quote Galveston’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, “The Island has seen its share of calamities, yet the worst natural disaster in U.S. history {the 1900 Storm} could not erase the tranquility of a Galveston sunset.” See you on deck!
