Paint Analysis for Historic Buildings Workshop

May 7-9, 2013

The National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT) will host a three-day hands-on workshop on the identification and analysis of historic architectural paints and finishes. The workshop will be held May 7-9, 2013 at NCPTT’s Lee H. Nelson Hall in Natchitoches, LA. A registration fee of $399.95 (discounted from $500) covers instruction, course materials, and equipment.

Additional Information
The analysis of architectural paints and finishes, as opposed to those used in the field of fine art, has developed from its infancy where paint was scraped on site to the present where scientific analysis is being undertaken not only to determine historic colors, but also to determine other aspects of finishes such as composition and application methods. David Arbogast, an architectural conservator with over thirty years of experience in the area of historic architectural paint analysis, will provide hands-on instruction in the microscopic analysis of historic architectural paints and other finishes. The workshop will include a visit to a local historic building where students will take samples for analysis using microscopy. A registration fee of $399.95 (discounted from $500) covers instruction, course materials, and equipment.

Act now, only five spots remain available.
