Annual Elm Award Ceremony (New Bedford Preservation Society)
May 9, 2013 |
The New Bedford Preservation Society will hold its Annual Elm Award Ceremony on AHA! night, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Downtown New Bedford Library, Third Floor Meeting Room. The public is cordially invited to attend the program and reception which follows. The program will include historical accounts and “before and after” photos of the award properties in an illustrated PowerPoint presentation. The society presents the Elm Awards annually to recognize individuals or organizations that have done an outstanding job in either the restoration or preservation of their historic property. As May is National Preservation Month, this ceremony is a fitting tribute to those who have accomplished much in preserving the heritage of the city for the future.
In addition to the Historic Marker Program, other Society projects include New Bedford Re-Leaf, the production of Historic District Walking tour brochures, Summer Afternoon Walking Tours, Historical Cemetery Tours, Semi-annual House Tours, and lectures throughout the year on historic preservation.
