Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, Morristown participates this summer in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,800 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The free admission program is available to active-duty military and their family members (military ID holder and up to five family members). Active duty military include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and active duty National Guard and active duty Reserve members. Leadership support has been provided by MetLife Foundation through Blue Star Families. The complete list of participating museums is available at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.

Macculloch Hall Historical Museum is open for house and exhibit tours on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The last tickets for admission are sold at 3 p.m. The Museum will begin the Blue Star Museums program on Wednesday May 29th and end it on August 29th. Please note the Museum is closed on Thursday July 4th. Tours will visit second floor gallery exhibits including “American Heroes in Bronze: The artwork of James E. Kelly”. This unique exhibit explores the work of Irish-American sculptor James E. Kelly (1855-1933). Macculloch Hall Historical Museum also presents more than twenty examples of presidential campaign images in the exhibit “Thomas Nast: President Maker and Campaign Breaker.” The exhibit illustrates the six presidential campaigns from 1864 through 1884. This Nast exhibit closes on July 21st. A new exhibit, “Thomas Nast Brings Down Boss Tweed”, opens on August 4th. Visitors to Macculloch Hall will also have the opportunity to enjoy the colorful and elegant gardens. The gardens were restored in the 1950s by the Garden Club of Morristown and are planted for seasonal bloom. Macculloch Hall Historical Museum preserves the history of the Macculloch-Miller families, the Morris area community, and the legacy of its founder W. Parsons Todd through its historic site, collections, exhibits, and educational and cultural programs. The Museum is open for house and exhibit tours on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The last tour leaves at 3pm. Adults $8; Seniors & Students $6; Children 6 – 12 $4. Members and children under 5 are free. The gardens are open (free of charge) during Museum hours. Please check our website for any holiday closings. The Museum is closed Thursday July 4th.
