Growing in the Garden: “Monarchs on the Move” & “Look Up, Look Down, Autumn Colors All Around”
July 19, 2013 |
Macculloch Hall Historical Museum presents its hands-on program for preschool-age children “Growing in the Garden” this October. This program meets twice a month on Tuesday afternoons, to visit the garden at Macculloch Hall and explore environmental topics through a story, walk in the garden and art projects.
“Monarchs on the Move”
Come and learn about monarch butterflies and how they have helped the garden at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum throughout the year. Children 3 - 5 years old and their caregivers can visit the Museum on Tuesday, October 1 from 1:15 to 2 p.m. to learn about monarch butterflies and what the new fall season brings for them. Children will hear a story about the journey the Monarch butterflies make and then decorate a paper butterfly to take home.
“Look Up, Look Down, Autumn Colors All Around”
Red, orange, yellow—the colors of autumn are all around the garden at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum. Join in the fun on Tuesday, October 15 from 1:15 to 2 p.m. when children ages 3 - 5 years old play leaf games in the garden and learn what happens inside the trees to cause the leaves to change color. In addition to visiting the
garden, children will hear a story about autumn leaves, and trace and create an
autumn color collage to take home.
