Indiana Archaeology Month Exhibit and more at the Farmstead

August 31, 2013

Bloomington Restorations, Inc. invites you to the monthly opening of the Hinkle-Garton Farmstead on Saturday, August 31, 2013, from 1-4 p.m. Opening that day and running through the end of December will be a new exhibit, “Archaeological Finds Around the Farm,” detailing the process of documenting the remains of the chicken coop and its surrounding area, and the stories that can be told from the various items found. Learn the importance of conducting archaeological investigations at historic sites, the excitement and mystery of discovery, and how the public can be involved in the process at the farmstead. The exhibit opens in conjunction with Indiana Archaeology Month held in September. Visitors will also be able to purchase Farmstead Maple Syrup, as well as a variety of native perennials, canna lilies, day lilies, and small trees. Refreshments will be served to help celebrate the day. The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the headquarters of Bloomington Restorations, Inc.

It is free and open to the public and is located at 2920 E. Tenth Street in Bloomington. These and other activities are organized by volunteers. For more information call BRI at (812) 336-0909.
