The Day Trip: Frank Lloyd Wright and Arts & Crafts Pilgrimage to Buffalo

October 11, 2013

Executive Director Wayne Goodman will accompany this trip, as we visit sites designed by the iconic American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. We’ll depart from the Stone-Tolan House historic site on East Avenue at 7 a.m.

Our first stop will be the Darwin Martin House Complex in Buffalo. This five-structure complex is one of Wright’s most notable Prairie House designs. Even if you’ve visited in the past, restoration is ongoing, and there is always more to see.

After a leisurely drive to East Aurora, we’ll indulge in luncheon at The Roycroft Inn—the physical embodiment of Elbert Hubbard’s Arts and Crafts movement. There will be time to shop at the Roycroft artisans shops.

Our final stop will be on the shore of Lake Erie—high above it, actually. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Graycliff perches on a cliff, with sweeping views of the Lake. This summer retreat is a Wright site like no other; you will never forget your visit there.

We’ll arrive back in Rochester at approximately 7 p.m. that night, filled with memories of sites that others must travel thousands of miles to see! Please note: this tour involves navigating stairs, and walking and standing for the tours which may be an hour in length.

Registration includes comfortable motorcoach transportation, all tours and admission fees, luncheon, and the company of our executive director and staff escort.

Cost:
Fee per person: $135 for Landmark Members; $160 for Non-members

Registration:
Complete the Registration Form and return to The Landmark Society by September 20th.

To request a hard copy of the Registration Form, please email Carolyn Haygood or call 546.7029 x11.
