Mansion Tours & Christmastime Stories with Master Storyteller, Robb Dimmick at Linden Place Mansion

December 14, 2013
Mansion Tours & Christmastime Stories with Master Storyteller, Robb Dimmick at Linden Place Mansion
Linden Place Museum invites you to a very special holiday program on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:00PM. Actor and Master Storyteller Robb Dimmick makes the meaning of Christmas clear with mesmerizing readings of Dylan Thomas’ “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” and Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory.”

For Robb, a dramatic performer and storyteller for over 20 years, A Child’s Christmas in Wales is as bound up in the memories of Christmas as the tree, the tinsel, and the snow itself. Thomas’ lovely poetry evokes the joy and merriment of childhood, the festivity of the holidays, and the delight of the unexpected. With fires in the parlor, unpopular gifts, and simpering aunts, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this lyrical retelling of a time and place long gone, but nonetheless familiar to all.

Truman Capote’s seldom-heard “A Christmas Memory” is another beautiful evocation of the holiday. Drawn from Capote’s own childhood in the South, it takes audiences to a time when simplicity was more meaningful than abundance. Fruitcakes, handmade gifts, and holly in the windows decorate this story with plain beauty. Seen from a child’s eyes, one experiences how Christmas can, and does, touch the heart forever.

Join us in the ballroom and let a master storyteller delight and enrich your holiday season. This program is open to all ages. Tickets are $12 for adults $5 for children and includes admission to tour the festively decorated Linden Place Mansion. Members of Linden Place receive at $2 discount and admission is free for Colt Circle members.

This event is part ofLinden Place Mansion’s month long holiday celebration and the historic house, decked for Christmas, and museum store will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Dec 5th throughDec 29th.  Admission during the holiday season is $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students & seniors, $5for children under 12. (Children under 6 are admitted free).
