February 20, 2014

Speaker: Keith Bringe
In a highly visual presentation, Mr. Bringe will provide an overview of the period and will speak about Art Deco/Moderne architecture from the late 1920s through '40. He will focus on the work done by the Chicago art deco Survey. Included in the talk: mainstays like the Lake Theatre and Marshall Fields, lost structures including River Forest's "Century of Progress House" and Weiboldt's Department Store and residential jewels. He will also examine the relationship and influence of Frank Lloyd Wright on art deco.
