All events take place at Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
TOURS
Public tours of the Art and Architecture of Second Presbyterian Church are given on the first and third Saturday of each month at 11:00 am and 12:00 noon, and on the second and fourth Wednesday at 12:00 noon and1:00 pm. Cost is $5. Free public tours are also givenon the first Sunday of each month at 12:30 pm (afterthe 11:00 am worship service). All tours are given by trained docents.
Upcoming dates include: Saturdays at 11:00 am and 12:00 noon: September 1 and 15; October 6 and 20; November 3 and 17; December 1 and 15. Wednesdays at 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm:September 12 and 26; October 10 and 24; November 14 and 28; December 12. Sundays at 12:30 pm:September 9 (changed due to Labor Day), October 7, November 4 and December 2.
AFTERNOON TEA AND LECTURE
Experts in the areas of art, architecture, historic preservation and history explore topics of interest while guests enjoy hot tea and scones. Programs arethe third Saturday of the month at 1:30 pm. Cost is $5.
September 15: Historian Bill Tyre, "Chicago's HistoricPrairie Avenue," traveling from its golden age throughits decline and to its recent rebirth.
October 20: Bob Yapp, PBS television host, "Preservation is Social Justice," a strategy for utilizing historic preservation to "take back the neighborhood."
November 17: Eiliesh Tuffy from Landmarks Illinois,"Separation Anxiety," exploring the various roles ofPartners for Sacred Spaces, including current effortsin Chicago.
