Educational Path of an Architect: An Informational Session for High School Students

December 11, 2014

Students need to plan their high school learning path carefully and take advantage of a wide range of life experiences to demonstrate their ability to succeed. Our goal is to provide useful information and additional resources to guide students with program types, length of study, and application process that is useful no matter what program they select.

Presenter Bio:
Timothy (Tim) Stenson
B.S. Architecture, University of Virginia; M.Arch, University of Virginia

Born in Brooklyn and educated in a garage on Long Island, Timothy Stenson has been taking things apart, and occasionally putting things together since childhood. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture from the University of Virginia. Since arriving at Syracuse University in 2004 Stenson’s design research has focused on lower-cost, lower-energy houses. He has completed a series of projects supported by funding from the US Department of Energy, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the Syracuse Center of Excellence. Current projects include research into architectural and engineering design processes for integration and optimization of low-energy systems. Prior to SU, Stenson taught full-time at the University of Michigan and at the University of Virginia. His course work has included core design studios, advanced fabrication based studios, building technology, and furniture design and fabrication.
