The High Line as Urban Accelerator: A Conversation
February 4, 2015 |
The High Line has stimulated tremendous growth in its Chelsea neighborhood and sparked new thinking about multi-use, shared public spaces. When the park's third and final phase opened in September, introducing direct pedestrian access at street level, it became even more connected to the city. Now New York’s most visited site, the High Line is a significant generator of economic activity and a model of public-private collaboration celebrated by designers, planners and civic leaders. Join High Line co-founder Joshua Davidfor a conversation with architectural critic Paul Goldberger and Vishaan Chakrabarti of SHoP Architects about the impact of this repurposed elevated rail line on the city and its economy.
Reception to follow. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the High Line.
Free for Museum and Friends of the High Line members; $12 students/seniors; $16 general public.
