Ask the Experts about your Masonry Building

November 3, 2007

Historic New England offers A Masonry Primer, a workshop for building owners, condominium trustees, and property managers, on Saturday, November 3, cosponsored with the Boston Preservation Alliance and the Charlestown Preservation Society.

The panel of experts includes keynote speaker Matthew Bronski, senior staff engineer at Simpson, Gumpertz, and Heger; Gary Russell, staff architect at Boston Landmarks Commission; and Sally Zimmerman, preservation specialist at Historic New England. The panel will discuss repairing, maintaining, or restoring nineteenth- or early twentieth-century brick, stone, cast-stone, and concrete, and answer questions about pointing and repair, chimneys and fireplaces, and preservation regulations. Guests may bring questions or submit specific questions when registering online.

The workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Charlestown, Massachusetts. Workshop fee is $40 for the public; $25 for members of Historic New England, Boston Preservation Alliance, and Charlestown Preservation Society; and $15 for Historic New England Historic Homeowner members. Registration is limited to 60. Please call 617-227-3957, ext. 254, or use our convenient online registration. Not a member? Join today and take advantage of your member discount.
