History Detectives: A Building Research Program

The Neighborhood Preservation Center is partnering with the Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group to present the following program (free and open to the public):
How to be a History Detective: Using high tech tools and old-fashioned sleuthing to uncover the history of UWS buildings
Learn how to research the history of your own building, school, church, synagogue, or favorite example of UWS architecture!
Monday, March 16 from 6:30 - 8:30pm at Hostelling International (891 Amsterdam Avenue at 103rd Street, NYC 10025)
The program will consist of the following:
- Research Tools Lecture (approx. one hour):
- Anthony W. Robins, architectural historian, author and lecturer
- Brief Overview of Neighborhood Building Typology (approx. 15 minutes):
- Susan De Vries, consultant/historic preservation and NYC history
- One-on-one Sessions (approx. 30 minutes):
- Educational lectures followed by optional individual sessions (limited to 10 minutes each) with one of our research volunteers who will help you start your own search
