Growing in the Garden - Mr. Macculloch's Marvelous Garden Journal

March 17, 2015
Growing in the Garden - Mr. Macculloch's Marvelous Garden Journal
Winter, spring, summer and fall -- come visit the gardens at Macculloch Hall!  “Growing in the Garden” is a year-round hands-on art program for 3 - 5 year olds and their caregivers using natural resources found in Macculloch Hall Historical Museum’s garden.  The program includes a story, a walk in the garden, and an art project, and meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month with two session times available: 1:15 – 2 pm or 3:45 – 4:30 pm. The program does not meet in January, resumes in February 2015. During inclement weather the program meets indoors in the museum classroom.

On March 17th come and learn about “Mr. Macculloch’s Marvelous Garden Journal”. Discover what George Macculloch planted in his family’s vegetable garden nearly 200 years ago. Farmers’ journals contained detailed information about planting:  when and how far apart seeds were planted, and when crops were harvested. After a story and a walk in the garden, children can plant seeds to take home and watch grow.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Pre-register by phone at (973) 538-2404 ext. 16 or by email cwinslow@maccullochhall.org. The cost for each program is $12 per pair (child and caregiver) for non-members and $8 per pair for members. There is a $5 discount for prepaid registration for four sessions. During inclement weather the program meets indoors in the museum classroom.  Please visit the Museum Facebook page for weather-related closings. For details on the education programs or any of the other programs offered by Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, or to purchase a membership which offers a variety of benefits including discounts on programs, please visit maccullochhall.org

Macculloch Hall Historical Museum is open for house and exhibit tours on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Adults $8; Seniors & Students $6; Children 6 – 12 $4. Members and children under 5 are free. The gardens at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum are open Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and Sundays 1pm - 4pm.
