Reconstructing Historic Stone Walls

Reconstructing Historic Stone Walls is a 2 day intensive hands-on masonry conservation class. The participants in this field school will learn how to document, dismantle and then reconstruct a late 18th century stone retaining wall using traditional mortars and building practices. The finer points of stone cutting will also be discussed and practiced durring class.
Instructor: John Wastrom, MA, Boston Univ. John has been the resident mason at the Wentworth Gardner House for over 20 years and has been a masonry conservation instructor at the Preservation Education Institute, Windsor, VT, since 1988.
The class will run both days, 6/13-6/14, from 9 am to 3 pm. Fee is $200 and lunch is provided both days.
