On June 19, 1865, word finally reached the westernmost frontier of Texas that the war had ended, and all slavery in the United States was finally at an end. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of this historic moment, join us at The Hermitage to kick-off our new “Slavery at The Hermitage” tour program. Exclusive to this Sunday’s tours, guests will also get to “meet” Hannah and Alfred, two prominent enslaved and emancipated residents of The Hermitage!
