Charleston: British and Beyond
October 9-11, 2015 |
The Charleston Heritage Symposium, part of and benefitting the Preservation Society of Charleston, is limited to 80 patrons.
Join us for a delightful weekend as we examine ?some of the diverse cultures that made Charleston such a cosmopolitan city in the 18th and early 19th centuries: British, French Huguenot, Jewish, African, German, and Italian. Visit a period Charleston home opened by the owners for the Symposium and enjoy an exclusive visit to a private collection of Charleston furniture and silver.
William G. Allman, Curator of The White House, and Tessa Murdoch FSA, of the Victoria and Albert Museum London, will be the two Keynote Speakers.
Giving presentations are Daniel K. Ackermann of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts [MESDA], Gary J. Albert of MESDA, Ralph Harvard III of Ralph Harvard Inc., and Maurie D. McInnis of the University of Virginia. Symposium Moderator and Curator-in-Residence is Robert A. Leath of MESDA.
