The Govenor Markham Landmark District Walking Tour
December 30, 2015 |
On December 30th, 2015, Pasadena Heritage invites you and your holiday guests to take a walking tour featuring many of Pasadena's architectural treasures!
The Governor Markham Landmark District is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the City of Pasadena, and residences included in the district parallel Pasadena’s growth from incorporation as a city in 1886. The period of significance in the district is late nineteenth and early 20thcentury, as 94% of the homes were constructed between 1891 and 1933. This area became an official Landmark District in 2005 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
The District has a high concentration of architecturally intact structures representative of homes constructed in the era by some of the City’s most prominent architects. Docents will lead small groups on walks while describing the historic homes along the route.
There will be two tour times offered for the walking tour - 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Buy your tickets ONLINE at www.pasadenaheritage.org. The cost per tour is $15 for Pasadena Heritage members and $20 for non-members. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. Please note that the tours are exterior of homes only.
