FLORAL CITY BLUE BANNER TOUR OF HISTORIC HOMES
Under the centrury old live oak canopy and behind the lace curtains, six to eight historic homes from 1866-1911 are opened annually on the first Saturday of December. Visitors with the $10 tour ticket are welcomed by costumed docents as they venture on this self-guided tour. Most homes are within a two block walking area and others are a half mile drive away.
These are the homes built during the phosphate boom period of the village when it was larger than the city of Miami in 1900.
Over the years, working families have found and rescued these gems and some have been on the tour for over 25 years. Some visitors return annually to view the ongoing restoration process.
