Natchitoches Historic Foundation Christmas Tours
December 5-15, 2007 |
The oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase Territory, Natchitoches was bestowed a 2006 National Trust Great American Main Street Award for its historic preservation and revitalization efforts. The Red River runs through its downtown, most of which is a National Historic Landmark District, and the brick main street is lined with stately oak and magnolias trees. Three different house tours are scheduled for the holiday season. The first, on December 5 and 12 from 5–8 p.m., features Chez des Amis (“House of Friends”), a 1923 Arts and Crafts bungalow bed and breakfast with an adjacent Craftsman-style cottage. Tour 2 is on December 7 and 14 from 5 to 8 p.m., and Tour 3 runs December 8 and 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. For full tour information and tickets, visit www.historicfoundation.com or email info@historicfoundation.com. |
